- Does membership cost anything?
No
- How old do I have to be?
The age of majority for your country, generally 18
- Where can I learn more about Vampires?
There are many great websites out there today. Please see
our section on Vampire Sects for links to other groups, or our suggested links section for vampires.
- What religion is your group?
We have no formal religion. All religions are welcome as
long as you are a Real Vampire. We are considering developing a
Priest Caste as an option for members, but House Quinotaur is not a
religion, nor will it be a requirement to be part of any religious path we may introduce.
- How do the Titles and Ranks of Cousin work?
If you pass our basic interview, you are a 9th Cousin.
Attaining the rank of 8th simply means agreeing to follow certain
rules and then continuing to follow them. 7th, 6th and 5th are all
self-given! In other words, we don't hand out these ranks, you
give
them to yourself. You must be honest with yourself and decide when
you have truly attained them. As for 4th, 3rd and 2nd; 4th Cousins
are voted on by their territory, 3rd are chosen by their Dominion
leader, with final approval by the founders, 1st Cousins and other
Dominion Leaders. 2nd Cousins are chosen by the founders of House
Quinotaur and 1st Cousins must prove their lineage to a Professional
Genealogist Narradas knows.
- Who is in charge?
Founders, 1st Cousins and 2nd Cousins are all
equally responsible for the Caretaking of the House.
- Can you teach me Magick and spells?
We are developing a formal system of Vampire Magick. In the
meantime individual members are always free to teach others what they
know!
- How do you decide if someone is a Real Vampire?
We ask you some basic questions, to make sure you're not a
total flake or a role-player.
- What about Vampires who believe they are Immortal?
If by this you mean physically, you've come to the wrong
place. If you mean spiritually, House Quinotaur doesn't
preclude this. While we have no official opinion on the `immortal
spiritually' theory yet, our genetic theory doesn't exclude
it.
- What about Turned Vampires?
We do not believe in turned vampires. We believe vampirism
is something you are born with. Someone who is `turned' is
actually a Latent Vampire who just needed help Awakening.
- This Merovech you talk about; is he Merovech the Frankish chief?
Yes.
- Are you saying Merovech was the original Vampire?
Oh my no! He is simply a concrete figure in history, who
based on our genetic theory is the most visible and provable member
of our line. Obviously, Vampirism is much older than him.
- What leads you to the conclusion that Merovech was a vampire?
We don't believe he was necessarily. We believe vampirism is genetic. (it may be more but we think genetics play a part)
If it's genetic we are left with two possibilities:
- A whole pile of random mutations in each generation (unlikely)
- A recessive gene/genes handed down from generation to generation.
Now, if it's #2, we are then left with the question of:
Do all humans cary this gene? (if so we'd have a lot
more cases of vampirism)
If not all humans do carry the gene then it stands to reason that the
ones who do are descended from 1 or possibly more family lines. (in
other words vampires all have a common 'father' and 'mother').
At this point we have the following:
- Vampirism (corporeal) is at least in part genetic.
- It comes from recessive gene or genes.
- It comes from 1 or possibly a couple of other family lines.
At this point we asked ourselves, 'well what family lines do we know of that
had magical/mystical qualities?' And that we can prove existed (as
opposed to Noah, Nephilim, Set or any other vampire creation story/myth)
This more or less left Merovech's line. :) Now keep in mind, his
descendents number in the 1000s at the least, and possibly in the 10s
or 100s of thousands. It's statistically possible ALL vampires are
related due to this line. (a genealogist can prove this)
Now is this totally provable? Not really. People who manage to
trace their lines back to this bloodline (through luck and skill)
will help to prove it, but even that doesn't totally.
What we are attempting however, is to find a common ground that ALL
vampires can bond to. A _real_ family as opposed to a fake one. Are
we wrong? Quite possibly. *grin* However with each person that can
prove descent it strengthens the theory a little more.
As for Merovech being 'vampiric' we totally agree, there is no
evidence for this. In fact he may not have been. Keep in mind if
it's genetic and recessive he may not have been a vampire. He may
have been a carrier from something before him. We only go as far as
him however because anything before him (or possibly his father) is
pure myth and legend.
- The Merovingian Bloodline has a lot of different groups claiming to
be a part of it. Are you affiliated with any of these groups?
No.
- Do you have all the answers?
No, but we have a few.
